5 signs your website is slowing down your business

Visitors don't wait. If a page takes more than 3 seconds to load, half of them are already gone before they've even seen what you offer. Here are five concrete signs worth checking.
1. Load time is over 2 seconds
Check on mobile, not just on a wired connection. If it takes more than 2 seconds for content to appear, every extra second represents a real, measurable increase in visitors leaving.
2. Images aren't optimized
A 5-megabyte photo looks exactly the same as a compressed 150-kilobyte version, except one loads 30 times faster. If your developer never brought this up, they probably never dealt with it.
3. It behaves differently on mobile than on desktop
If the menu, buttons, or forms feel clunky on mobile, most of your visitors (typically the majority) are getting that experience first, not the desktop version.
4. Nothing visible happens after submitting a form
If someone submits a contact form and doesn't get an immediate, clear confirmation, there's a good chance they'll submit it again, or give up and go elsewhere.
5. Nothing has changed on the site in six months
A static, unmaintained site tells both search engines and visitors the same thing: this business isn't active. You don't need to redesign weekly, but the content needs to be alive.
What should you do about this?
You don't need to fix everything at once. Start with load speed and mobile experience: these two factors deliver the biggest, fastest-measurable improvement.
